Air Products’ Halia^® aeration systems use oxygen rather than air as the aeration gas and can be utilized to reduce foaming levels in aeration basins. Use of oxygen reduces the total gas flow to the basin by 80% while retaining the same level of oxygen supply required to sustain the biological process. In air systems, the nitrogen present in the air passes through the basin in the gas phase and contributes to the degree of foaming in the basin.
